St. George Youth Center
Since 1998, the St. George Youth Center (previously known as IV Teen Center) has been a vital resource for youth and families in Isla Vista and Goleta. Its mission is to provide a safe and enjoyable space for teens during the high-risk after-school hours, offering an alternative to potentially dangerous activities. Every year, around 150 youths in grades 6-12 and their families visit the Center, with over 90% of them coming from low-income immigrant families and identifying as Latino. The dedicated team of volunteers and staff includes members of the community, undergraduates, and graduate students from the University of California, Santa Barbara. At the St. George Youth Center, youths have the opportunity to participate in various activities and engage with their peers, volunteers, and staff members.
